A little about me & my journey to becoming a sexual empowerment & sex & relationship coach…
I’m a late 30s something-year-old mom to two teenage kids. I’m one of those that all I ever wanted was to be a mom. My undergraduate degree is in Human Development and Family Studies because I wanted to learn more about how to be the best mother I could be. I never thought I’d use my degree professionally as I had planned to be a stay at home mom and teach dance on the side. And that’s what I did until my late 20s.
At that time, I went through a divorce… an ugly divorce & custody battle, which meant I was a single mom that needed to provide. Goodbye dance. I decided to go back to school to become a therapist as my “real, grown-up” job. My master’s degree is in Marriage and Family Therapy. But the whole “sit in a room on a couch & talk” wasn’t totally cutting it for me. I knew there was more for me.
I’ve always loved moving my body & found it very healing to do so. I also enjoyed yoga & always wanted to become certified to teach yoga. So I did my 200 hour Yoga Alliance teacher training & then I started learning more about yoga & mental health. There it was! The beginning of finding my thing.
I started working as a holistic wellness mentor focusing on the whole person as I know the importance of our overall health & needing to look at all parts of us which include the mental, physical, emotional, social & spiritual person. I was able to incorporate yoga into this more than I could in traditional talk therapy & I loved that! But there was still something missing for me. I felt that I still wasn’t being completely true to MY whole self.
In working with the whole person I realized a very neglected part of the person & often a part many struggle to talk about. This is the sexual person. As human beings, being sexual is natural! But most of the time this doesn’t get talked about, taught or addressed. People feel they usually need to hide this part of them (for many various reasons) and many even feel they shouldn’t be this part of them (again for many various reasons, both of which I work through with you). I also found how much the struggles with the sexual person, sexuality & sexual wellness were impacting the relationships with themselves & with others.
I found it! I found what I was passionate in with helping others.
What I do?
I help individuals and couples struggling with emotional and mental blocks around sexuality (like shame, guilt, fear, embarrassment) that prevent you from having healthy relationships with yourself, with sex, and with others. I guide you to live your life true to the real you, no longer ignoring the sexual person inside, to gain more confidence in yourself, your body, your relationships & your life! As a licensed marriage therapist, I focus on sex & relationship coaching to aid those with their difficulties when it comes to their sexual relationships. As a registered yoga teacher, I use concepts from yoga combined with my trainings from trauma-informed yoga & yoga sex therapy for healing & helping you on your sexual wellness journey. Here you can join me & many others out there that are ready to take control of their lives, their bodies, their relationships & their sexual wellness.
